Quick Answer
Ace Combat 8 has announced three days of Early Access for eligible Deluxe Edition pre-orders before the October 2, 2026 launch. No demo has been announced in the official sources checked. The Joker Flight Pack is a separate Bandai Namco Store collector package, not a standalone DLC or a universal pre-order bonus.
Official early access status
Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve early access begins on September 28, 2026 at 3:00 PM (PDT) for players who pre-order the digital Deluxe Edition. That timing comes from the official PlayStation Store product page and is repeated by Xbox Wire for the Xbox Deluxe Edition. The game then launches for everyone on October 2, 2026.
The three-day gap is the entire early access window: play from the evening of September 28 (Pacific time) until the worldwide launch on October 2. Bandai Namco’s own release-date announcement summarizes the structure as “early access available for Deluxe Edition pre-order holders only on September 29, 2026, and launch for all players on October 2” — a September 29 calendar statement that the storefronts make precise with the September 28, 3:00 PM PDT unlock time.
See the difficulty guide to pick your starting level.
Both dates can be stated with confidence because they come from official storefronts and the publisher. What no official source has published is a per-region unlock table beyond the PDT timestamp, so players outside North America should convert 3:00 PM PDT to their local time rather than rely on unofficial countdown sites.
Is there an Ace Combat 8 demo?
No demo has been announced in the official Bandai Namco game page, release announcement, or Steam product page checked for this update. That is the current published status, not a promise that a demo will never appear. If Bandai Namco announces a trial, beta, or downloadable demo, this section will be updated with the original announcement rather than a rumor or storefront placeholder.
How to get early access
Early access is tied to one purchase path: pre-ordering the digital Deluxe Edition. The official FAQ states the rule plainly — the Deluxe Edition remains available after launch, but “it does not include the early access bonuses available with digital pre-orders of the Deluxe Edition.” Buying Deluxe on October 2 or later gets the extra content, not the early window.
Three practical consequences follow from that structure:
- Digital, not physical. The Bandai Namco physical store sells a Deluxe Edition box with “3 Days Early Access*,” but its own footnote says the publisher cannot guarantee early access duration because the actual delivery date depends on your location and shipping method. A physical box that arrives after September 28 gives you a shorter — or zero-day — early window. The guaranteed route is a digital pre-order on PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, or Steam.
- Any platform’s digital store works. The Deluxe Edition with early access is offered on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. The early access benefit travels with the edition, not with one storefront.
- The window closes at launch. Early access is not extra content you keep; it is three calendar days of playing the full game before October 2. After launch, every player is on the same version.
What’s included in the Deluxe Edition
The Deluxe Edition bundles the early access window with the edition’s other digital benefits. The official product page lists:
- Full game (Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve)
- 3 days of Early Access (September 28 – October 2, 2026, per the storefront timing above)
- Premium Ace Pass Plus voucher
- Customizable Cosmetic Set
Pre-ordering any edition also adds the pre-order bonuses: the playable F-14A aircraft and ACE COMBAT ZERO: THE BELKAN WAR. Those pre-order items are separate from the Deluxe Edition contents — a Standard Edition pre-order includes them too — and the site’s editions page keeps the full tier comparison.
| Item | Standard Edition | Deluxe Edition |
|---|---|---|
| Full game | ✓ | ✓ |
| 3-day early access (Sept 28) | — | ✓ |
| Premium Ace Pass Plus voucher | — | ✓ |
| Customizable Cosmetic Set | — | ✓ |
| Pre-order bonus: F-14A + ACE COMBAT ZERO | ✓ (pre-ordered) | ✓ (pre-ordered) |
Prices vary by region and store, so this page links the official stores instead of freezing a number.
Joker Flight Pack status
The Joker Flight Pack is a Bandai Namco Store collector package, not a standalone DLC and not the pre-order reward granted to every edition. The official US listing identifies it as a package with Deluxe Edition benefits and physical collectibles; its listed platform options are PS5 and Steam in that regional store snapshot. Its availability, price, shipping, and regional configuration can change, so the live official store page is the final purchase source.
The pack can include the same core pre-order offer shown with other qualifying editions, such as the F-14A playable aircraft and ACE COMBAT ZERO: THE BELKAN WAR. Those items remain pre-order entitlements; they should not be described as Joker Flight Pack-exclusive DLC. The pack’s Deluxe Edition portion is why it carries the three-day Early Access benefit, but a physical shipment is not a guaranteed delivery before that window.
Early access timing by platform
The only official clock is the storefront text: “Early Access is scheduled to begin on September 28, 2026 at 3:00 PM (PDT).” PlayStation Store (US) and Xbox Wire both publish that sentence for their Deluxe Editions. Steam’s Deluxe product page does not display a distinct hour in the collected material, so this page does not invent a Steam-specific time.
| Platform | Early access start | Source |
|---|---|---|
| PS5 (digital Deluxe) | September 28, 2026, 3:00 PM PDT | PlayStation Store US product page |
| Xbox Series X|S (digital Deluxe) | September 28, 2026, 3:00 PM PDT | Xbox Wire official post |
| Steam (Deluxe) | Scheduled with the Deluxe Edition; exact hour not separately published | Steam product page |
One more physical-copy caveat from the Bandai Namco store: the boxed Deluxe Edition lists “3 Days Early Access*” with an asterisk, and the footnote explains that physical delivery may shorten the window. If you are deciding between digital and physical specifically for early access, the digital pre-order is the only version with a publisher-guaranteed start time.
What early access is not
Early access is not a demo, a beta, or a separate early build. The storefronts describe it as days of early access to the game itself, so the September 28 window should run the launch version of the full game. There is no published evidence of progression wipes between early access and October 2, and equally no official statement confirming carry-over — that detail stays not officially documented until Bandai Namco or the storefronts address it.
It is also not exclusive content forever. The Cosmetic Set and Premium Ace Pass Plus voucher belong to the Deluxe Edition, but the game itself, its aircraft, and its modes are identical for everyone from October 2. Early access buys time, not power.
The official Walkthrough Trailer previews the systems early-access players will meet first: aerial combat, aircraft customization, weapons and parts, and wingman commands. It is included as official media, not as a source for early access policy.
